A meeting was held between the Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy of the President of Iran and a number of managers of non-governmental research and technology funds and Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) funds.
The meeting focused on the key implementation challenges faced by CVC funds, as well as proposed measures to improve the implementation of Clause (T) of Article 11 of the Law on Knowledge-Based Production Leap.
The main issues discussed included:
- Facilitating and specializing the project evaluation process
- Clarifying eligible and allowable costs
- Accelerating access to tax credits
- Aligning the fiscal year with the structure of holding companies
- Ensuring stability and predictability in investment conditions
Participants also emphasized the need to address regulatory and operational barriers to the further development of corporate venture capital investment. Key areas highlighted included:
- Resolving regulatory ambiguities
- Facilitating investment in equipment and strategic projects
- Expanding co-investment among CVC funds
- Supporting investment in less-developed regions
- Establishing mechanisms for pooling resources to finance national and strategic projects
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed that the Iranian Venture Capital Association, representing its members, would follow up on the issues and proposals raised with the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy and other relevant authorities.
