Dr. Sajadi Niri, Chairman of the Iran National Venture Capital Association, appeared on the “Charkh” program broadcast by Channel 4 of IRIB to elaborate on the significance of the Iran National Technology and Innovation Financing Award (INTIFA). In this interview, he explained the objectives, necessities, and expected outcomes of this award for the country’s innovation and technology ecosystem.
One of the main points emphasized by Dr. Sajadi Niri was the importance of recognizing organizations that have been active in the national innovation ecosystem over recent years. He highlighted this as a critical need for policymakers, government, stakeholders, entrepreneurs, as well as knowledge-based, creative, and technology-driven companies. He stressed that innovation is essential for the survival of businesses and industries and underlined the necessity for stakeholders in this field to become familiar with modern financing tools. According to him, a considerable number of knowledge-based and technology companies still lack sufficient awareness of the existing financing models in the country. During discussions with stakeholders, including members of the Nano Technology Headquarters and representatives of Iran Fara Bourse, this lack of familiarity with financing mechanisms was identified as a major challenge.
The Chairman of the Association explained that the Iran National Technology and Innovation Financing Award not only carries a competitive dimension but also serves an educational and promotional mission, marking the beginning of a new pathway for enhancing stakeholder awareness. Based on reported figures, nearly 100 businesses and financing institutions have so far submitted their information to the award’s secretariat, demonstrating the private sector’s positive response and attention to this important area.
He further emphasized the need to expand innovation in the financing sector, which encompasses designing new instruments, creating fresh opportunities for entrepreneurs, introducing new models, and influencing national policy frameworks.
In conclusion, Dr. Sajadi Niri, referring to the country’s current circumstances, stressed that Iran today needs hope more than ever before, and the field of technology and innovation can serve as one of the most important sources of such hope.
