The second meeting of the Steering Committee of the Venture Capital Firms Commission was held on May 1, 2024, at the BarsamTech complex. The meeting was attended by Mr. Reza Bagheri (Smartup Ventures), Mr. Saber Sayyadi (Betis Capital), Mr. Mohsen Sadri (BarsamTech), and Mr. Ahmadreza Sadeghi (NikVentures).

This was the second official meeting of the Commission of Venture Capital Firms, convened to review the progress made since the first session. During the meeting, members of the Steering Committee presented reports on the activities and follow-ups undertaken. Key developments included planning collaborations with the Iran Fara Bourse (IFB), the Facilitation and Commercialization Deputy of the Innovation and Prosperity Fund, and ongoing efforts regarding the “Bold Investment Guarantee Scheme.”

Further discussions focused on strategic issues concerning the future of the Commission, with a special emphasis on the potential of Type III (LPF) funds within the national venture capital system—particularly in terms of regulatory frameworks and limited partner engagement mechanisms. Additionally, members highlighted the importance of systematically advancing the Cabinet’s resolution related to Clause “T” of Article 11 of the Law on the Leap of Knowledge-Based Production. They stressed the need for close collaboration with relevant government entities to ensure the policy’s practical implementation within the innovation ecosystem.

The meeting also underscored the necessity of enhanced synergy among Commission members and the establishment of structured engagement with regulatory and policymaking bodies. The session concluded with a summary of key discussion points and the formulation of future interaction frameworks among member firms, aiming for alignment in addressing structural challenges in the country’s venture capital ecosystem. The Steering Committee expressed hope that these collective efforts would contribute to the development of robust venture financing infrastructure in Iran.

As a specialized national entity, the Iran National Venture Capital Association serves as a facilitator connecting investors, policymakers, and key stakeholders. The Commission meetings offer a platform for discussing strategic matters, sharing experiences, and coordinating nationwide initiatives. Looking ahead, the Association will focus on improving the regulatory environment and fostering institutional collaboration.
